Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our gemstones, jewellery, and how we work.

ABOUT LUNAWAT GEMS AND JEWELS

A: Lunawat Gems and Jewels is a Jaipur-based fine jewellery manufacturer and gemstone specialist with deep roots in India's most celebrated gemstone city. We combine decades of expertise in sourcing and cutting fine coloured natural gemstones with precision jewellery manufacturing in gold and silver — crafting pieces for international brands, designers, and discerning buyers worldwide.

A: We are based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India — the world's foremost hub for coloured gemstone sourcing, cutting, and jewellery manufacturing. Our in-house facility allows us to control every step of the process, from raw stone to finished jewellery.

A: Yes. We serve partners and clients across global markets. Our manufacturing standards, packaging, and communication are aligned with international expectations. We work closely with luxury brands, independent designers, and wholesale buyers from across Europe, the Middle East, the US, and Southeast Asia.

A: Yes, we operate from our facility in Jaipur. International clients and trade partners are welcome to schedule a visit or virtual walkthrough. Please use our Contact page to arrange an appointment in advance.

OUR GEMSTONES

A: We specialise exclusively in fine coloured natural gemstones. Our collection spans a wide spectrum including rubies, emeralds, sapphires, spinels, tourmalines, tanzanite, garnets, peridot, aquamarine, citrine, amethyst, topaz, and many more rare and semi-precious varieties. Every stone we use is natural — not synthetic or simulated.

A: Absolutely. All our gemstones are 100% natural, earth-mined stones. We do not work with synthetic, lab-created, or simulated stones. Our expertise lies in sourcing authentic natural gemstones with exceptional colour, clarity, and character.

A: Yes. Gemstone certification is available on request for significant stones. We work with reputed gemological laboratories and can arrange certificates from recognised bodies upon client request, particularly for high-value individual stones used in bespoke pieces.

A: Like the broader gemstone industry, some of our stones may carry standard industry-accepted treatments such as heat treatment for colour enhancement, which is considered normal and accepted practice for certain gemstone varieties (e.g., rubies, sapphires). We believe in full transparency — any significant treatment will be disclosed clearly at the time of purchase or manufacturing discussion.

A: We have a robust global sourcing network built over many years of presence in the gemstone trade. We source directly from mining origins, rough stone dealers, and trusted suppliers across Sri Lanka, Mozambique, Madagascar, Colombia, Brazil, Tanzania, and other major gem-producing countries. Our team hand-selects stones for colour saturation, cut quality, and consistency.

A: Yes. Custom gemstone sourcing is one of our core strengths. Whether you need a matched parcel of calibrated blue sapphires, a vivid green Colombian emerald centre stone, or a specific fancy-cut tourmaline, our sourcing team will work to fulfil your requirements. Contact us with your specifications.

OUR METALS

A: We work with gold and silver — the two finest and most enduring metals in fine jewellery. Our gold work spans yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold across various karat standards (typically 18kt and 14kt for fine jewellery, 9kt upon request). Our silver work uses 925 sterling silver, often rhodium-plated for lasting finish.

A: We primarily manufacture in 18kt and 14kt gold. 9kt gold is available upon specific request. The karat is selected based on the client's target market, design requirements, and budget. We are happy to advise on the best option for your product line.

A: Yes. We manufacture fine gemstone jewellery in 925 sterling silver, which may include rhodium plating, yellow gold vermeil finish, or rose gold vermeil depending on the design and client preference. Silver jewellery with coloured gemstones is a growing category in our portfolio.

A: Absolutely. We work to client-specified metal standards, finishes (high polish, matte, brushed, hammered), and hallmarking requirements. If you cater to a specific market with regulated hallmarking standards, we can align our manufacturing accordingly.

MANUFACTURING & CRAFTSMANSHIP

A: Yes. We operate an in-house manufacturing facility in Jaipur. This gives us complete control over quality, timelines, and consistency — from design to setting to finishing. We do not outsource our core manufacturing.

A: We manufacture across five primary categories: Rings, Earrings, Necklaces, Pendant Sets, and Bracelets — all featuring fine coloured natural gemstones set in gold or silver.

A: Our craftsmen are skilled in a wide range of setting styles including prong/claw settings, bezel settings, pavé, channel, halo, tension, and traditional Jaipur-style kundan-inspired settings. We match the setting style to the gemstone's character and the design's aesthetic intent.

A: Yes, bespoke manufacturing is a significant part of what we do. We work with designers, brands, and buyers who have their own design concepts and need a reliable manufacturing partner to bring those designs to life with precision and consistency. We can work from sketches, CAD files, or reference samples.

A: MOQ varies depending on the jewellery category, complexity of design, and metal type. Please contact us directly to discuss your requirements — we aim to be flexible for the right partnerships, whether you are an established brand or an emerging designer.

A: Yes. Sample production is part of our standard process for new clients and new designs. We strongly recommend reviewing approved samples before committing to a production run. Sample timelines and charges vary by design complexity and will be communicated clearly upfront.

A: Production timelines depend on the complexity of the design, gemstone availability, and order volume. Typically, standard production runs take between 3–6 weeks from design approval. We are committed to timely deliveries and keep clients updated throughout the production process.

SOURCING & SUPPLY CHAIN

A: Yes. Beyond manufacturing jewellery, we also assist international clients with sourcing specific coloured gemstones — calibrated parcels, matched sets, or individual centre stones — leveraging our established supplier network. Contact us to discuss your gemstone sourcing requirements.

CARING FOR YOUR GEMSTONE JEWELLERY

A: Fine gemstone jewellery deserves thoughtful care. We recommend the following:

  • Store each piece separately in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box to prevent scratching.
  • Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, perfumes, and cleaning agents.
  • Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing, or engaging in physical activity.
  • Clean gently with a soft, damp cloth or a mild soap solution with a soft brush.
  • Have your jewellery professionally inspected and cleaned periodically.

A: Durability varies by gemstone. Sapphires, rubies, and spinels are among the hardest and most durable gemstones, well-suited for everyday wear. Softer stones such as emeralds, opals, or pearls require more careful handling. We are happy to advise on the best gemstones for specific jewellery categories based on intended use.

A: Yes, many gemstones can be repolished if they develop surface scratches over time, and settings can be repaired or re-tipped. For pieces manufactured by us, please get in touch and we will advise on the best course of action.

POLICIES

A: All our formal policies — including our Privacy Policy, Supply Chain Policy, Anti-Money Laundering Policy, Human Rights Policy, and Grievance Handling Mechanism — are available in the Policies section of our website. We believe in transparent and responsible business practices.

A: Yes. Respect for human rights is fundamental to how we operate. Our Human Rights Policy covers our commitment to fair labour practices, safe working conditions, and ethical conduct throughout our operations and supply chain.
